NFL: Brown to the Raiders, mock draft
The saga surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown ended Sunday morning when the four-time Pro Bowler was sent to the Oakland Raiders for a third- and fifth-round pick in this year’s draft.
Brown will receive a new contract as part of the agreement, which will pay out $50.125 million over the next three seasons with $30.125 million guaranteed. The deal could increase to $54.125 million with incentives. The contract makes Brown the highest-paid receiver in the league.
The 2019 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, and with the combine in the books, many executives have a good grasp on the potential draft order.
The University of Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman winner Kyler Murray jumped defensive lineman Nick Bosa and Quinnen Williams as the favorite to be the first player off the board.
Murray officially measured in at 5’10”, answering all questions about his height. With the first pick in the draft, Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who exhibited a high octane offensive approach during his time at Texas Tech University, has expressed his thoughts on Murray.
The University of Mississippi wide receiver D.K. Metcalf displayed his frame and athleticism at the combine and climbed up the board to the No. 13 pick. Metcalf is arguably the top receiver available, averaging a remarkable 21.9 yards per catch at Ole Miss.

NBA: Torches pass—LeBron passes Jordan, CP3 passes Isaiah Thomas
Two historic Hall of Famers have given way to the legacies of the modern era.
Los Angeles forward LeBron James scored his 13th point in the second quarter against the Denver Nuggets Wednesday, March 6, to pass Michael Jordan for fourth place on the all-time NBA career scoring list. James now only trails Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most points in NBA history. James finished with 31 points but the Lakers fell short to the Nuggets, 115-99.
Houston Rockets guard Chris Paul also made his way into the record books, recording his 9,062 career assist Sunday, March 10, jumping Detroit Pistons legend Isaiah Thomas for seventh on the all-time NBA career assist leader board. Paul is roughly 800 assists away from taking the sixth spot from Oscar Robertson (9,887). Houston won 94-93, beating the Dallas Mavericks.
In Oklahoma City news, the Thunder beat the Utah Jazz in an emotional 98-88 victory. Russell Westbrook led the way offensively, scoring 23 points and grabbing eleven boards.
Westbrook took exception to comments made by the Utah crowd and expressed his distaste for their remarks in on the floor.
The Thunder will play the Brooklyn Nets March 13 at 6 p.m.
College Hoops: Ja Morant lead Murray State to March Madness
Murray State’s sophomore point guard Ja Morant dropped 36 points over Belmont University to secure the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by winning the Ohio Valley Conference.
Morant’s recent performances have catapulted him into the talks of a top-three draft pick. He will enter March Madness averaging 24.6 points, 10 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game. Morant’s leaping abilities and court vision have made him a viral star, combating the lack of exposure he has received in southwest Kentucky.
Olympics: Cyclist Kelly Catlin found dead
Olympic track cyclist Kelly Catlin, 23, who led the U.S. women’s pursuit team to a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro, was found dead in her California home late Friday night. Catlin’s father, Mark Catlin, has informed surrounding media she took her own life.
Catlin was pursuing a graduate degree in computational mathematics at Stanford University.
