This week’s Intramural Athletes of the Week are Parker Landes of Chi Lambda Phi and Teagan Cain of Lambda Chi Zeta, two competitors who embody what Oklahoma Christian University intramurals are all about.

For Parker Landes, flag football is not just another intramural sport, it is an opportunity to unite his team through shared motivation and trust.
“Honestly, I don’t feel like we’re having to find ways to stay motivated because all of the guys are just natural competitors at heart,” Landes said. “The motivation to compete and win is already in them individually. But the key is figuring out how to take all of that individual motivation and channel it into one source in order to move as one unit.”
Landes shared that Chi’s approach to success this season has centered around intentional communication and brotherhood.
“We get on the same page before the snap, communicate what we’re thinking, and grow closer as friends,” he explained.
Even though he has played basketball for most of his life, Landes says there is something uniquely special about flag football.
“There’s a certain toughness, mindset, and hype that’s hard to match,” he said. “The environment at OC just makes it so fun to be out there at night with friends on your team, friends on the opposing team, and friends in the stands watching you.”
Heading into playoffs, Landes emphasized that Chi’s focus is on trust, trusting both the system and each other.
“It takes a whole team to win, and every job is important, even if it doesn’t show on the stat sheet,” he said. “Right now, it feels like everyone is very humbly bought into that mindset.”

On the women’s side, Teagan Cain of Lambda Chi Zeta is bringing that same energy and enthusiasm. A lifelong athlete, Cain grew up playing basketball for eight years and continues to thrive in the competitive, yet community-driven, spirit of OC intramurals.
“I love it!” Cain said. “It has been so amazing and I couldn’t ask for more!”
As her team prepares for playoffs, Cain’s excitement is contagious.
“I am looking forward to the playoffs and ready to strip some flags!” she laughed.
Both Landes and Cain showcase what makes Oklahoma Christian intramurals special; the balance of competition, camaraderie, and joy. Whether it is strategizing under the lights or cheering on friends from the sidelines, these athletes remind us that sports at Oklahoma Christian are about far more than just the final score.
