This week, the Talon takes a closer look at specific athletes from each club. These athletes are people who stood out to their athletic directors as top-tier players in their respective clubs.
First, Caleb Mer was called out by Kappa Sigma Tau’s athletic directors as a standout athlete who proved himself on both the softball and football fields. He was a talented third baseman for their softball team and showed he can make plays when his team needs him most. He has also helped the football team maintain an undefeated season, making him a key player in Kappa’s athletic success.
Next is Nora Watson. Gamma Rho’s athletic directors chose Watson this week because of her athletic ability, competitive spirit and the energy she brings to every game. She is a great teammate who is always ready to compete, no matter the sport. On the football field, Watson stands out for her aggressive playing style and strength; while on the softball field, she brings great skill and knowledge of the game.
Delta Gamma Sigma’s athletic directors selected Jackson Ortiz. Ortiz has made an impact on Delta both as an athletic director and as an athlete. He helped build and develop Delta’s softball team while also taking on the role of star quarterback for Delta’s football team. Ortiz shows strong leadership qualities and a commitment to helping his team succeed.
Alpha Gamma Omega’s athletic directors chose Chris Gulledge. Gulledge is a major threat on the football field, especially once the ball is in his hands. His speed, field vision, and ability to change direction make him a difficult athlete to guard and give him the potential to turn any play into a big gain. Gulledge is electric after the catch and can make defenders miss in the open field. With his ability to create plays and make things happen, he is a standout athlete for his team.
As Oklahoma Christian enters the halfway point of the semester, great athletes are seen from all the teams. Each club shows it has talent and all the teams will be threats throughout each sport. As football begins to wind down, Oklahoma Christian is excited to watch the playoffs on Oct.19 and 22. People will also be excited to get into volleyball soon after. No doubt, this will be a great semester for intramurals.
