Retired Sergeant Michael Heath served at Oklahoma Christian University as a campus police officer for over 11 years.

In addition to being a campus police officer at Oklahoma Christian for over a decade, he was also a member at Memorial Road Church of Christ and part of the youth group in which the school’s registrar, Dr. Mickey Banister, was youth minister for for many years.

Heath suffered from many years of bad health, and  died from natural causes on Saturday, March 30. Mickey Banister conducted a memorial service and funeral Wednesday April 3rd  at Memorial Road Church of Christ.

Many memorable stories about Michael Heath come from his younger days as a kid in the youth group.

“We have some great memories of being in youth group with Mike,” Mark and Sherrie Horton said. “So sad to hear he is gone way too soon. Our prayers for all of you.”

Some other memories that were used to describe the loss of Heath came from when he was a kid in high school.

“I went to high school with Mike,” Laura Ely said. “He was always very kind to me and I remember him being funny as well. He always seemed to be smiling. My deepest sympathy to his family.”

“My siblings and I went to school with Mike,” Lanya Barr-Blodgett said. “My brother, Les, and Mike were buddies and were always getting into some sort of mischief. I was the younger sister tagging along. Mike was always kind to me and made me feel included even when my brother didn’t particularly want me to be. My deepest sympathies to his entire family.”

Bill and Carol McMutry described him as being “a good godly man we have known for a long time.”

Oklahoma Christian is extremely appreciative of Michael Timothy Heath’s service protecting the students, faculty, and staff that have lived and worked on this campus for the past decade.

Prayers go out to the whole Heath family and all those who knew Michael.
