Oklahoma Christian University qualified two relay teams, six individuals and the Eagles as a team placed fourth at the Southwestern Invitational in Winfield, Kansas on March 12.
Freshman Adetoye Alao said the weather leading up to the event made practice difficult, but said he was prepared.
“We haven’t got much outside work due to the weather lately,” Alao said. “But I have been working on my skills and technique lately and trying to perfect every little thing to prepare for the outdoor season.”
Timothy Zeurcher and Landon Huslig both posted wins in their individual events. Zeurcher in the 10,000-meter with a time of 32:50.63, winning the race by more than 90 seconds, and Huslig in the 400-meters hurdles with his time of 53.95 seconds.
Zeurcher beat his runner-up finish from last May’s national meet and posted a winning-time of 32:50.63.

Teammate Winston Ogletree posted a national-qualifying time as well, placing eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.36.
Huslig also competed in the 4×400 and 4×100 meter relay team, both qualified him for the national meet. In the 4×100 the four-man team of Kentrell Miller, Huslig, Thomas Ducat and Jamal George posted a time of 42.82, placing them at fourth.
The 4×400 team of Joshua Jones, Miller, Ducat and Huslig placed second with a time of 3:20.98, finishing first among all four-year schools.
George raced in the 100 meter race, posting a time of 11.22 seconds, resulting in 10th.
Alao was the sole field competitor for the Eagles. He posted a national-qualifying mark in the discus, taking fourth among the field of 31 throwers with a top mark of 134 feet 2 1/2 inches.
