Weather cancels second day of Rattler Invitational

Due to bad weather conditions, which rendered the course unplayable, the second day of the Rattler Invitational tournament was cancelled on Tuesday, leaving the Oklahoma Christian University women’s golf team in 13th place out of the 18 competing teams.

The originally two-day event ended after only one full day of competition with nine holes played and left the Lady Eagles with 327 total team points, 28 shots behind the tournament’s co-winners Northeastern State University and tournament host St. Mary’s University.

Sophomore Kate Goodwin was the highest finisher for Oklahoma Christian as she tied for 37th in the 98-woman field shooting a 79.

Freshmen Abigail Rigsby and Ashton Nemecek tied for 52nd after shooting 82, while senior Allsion Sell and sophomore Elizabeth Freeman both tied for 62nd while shooting 84.

The Lady Eagles will stay in Edmond for their next competition on March 6-7 when they compete in in the Diffie Ford-Lincoln Invitational at Kickingbird Golf Course. The tee time has not yet been announced.
