MLB lockout update

Pitchers and catchers were supposed to report to spring training on Tuesday, Feb. 15, but due to the ongoing lockout, they were unable to. The lockout has now lasted over 75 days from Dec. 1, and it is still unknown how or when it will end. Players and owners must reach an agreement by Feb. 28 for the 2022 season to start on time. The two sides met on Feb. 17 for more in-person negotiations as MLB insider Jeff Passan reported the players backing off on a couple of their asks and hoping the owners did the same.

“MLB set a Feb. 28 deadline to start opening day on March. 31,” Passan said. “But unless real, substantive progress comes, it’s going to be awhile.”
