The Lady Eagles found success this week at the Dallas Baptist Fall Classic.

After receiving an invitation to the NCCAA Championship last week, Women’s Golf Head Coach Greg Lynn said he was proud of the girls and is eager to continue through the season one tournament at a time.

“At the next event in Dallas we will face the strongest field,” Greg Lynn said before the tournament. “I hope the girls will use the situation to prepare for nationals.”

The Lady Eagles battled 30-40 mph winds through round one, but finished the first day in 10th place out of 17 teams with a score of 314.

According to Lynn, establishing a rhythm in practice helps players stay focused during tournaments.

“We prepare to play by establishing a routine that allows you to stay in the moment, playing one shot at a time,” Lynn said.

The Lady Eagles turned around from 10th place after round one to fifth place by the end of the tournament with a total score of 617.

Junior Audrey Meisch led the way forward with rounds of 76 and 73, tying her for sixth place at 149. Anna Arresse Cortadellas, a senior, also placed in the top-10 after shooting 76 and 74, only one stroke behind Meisch. Cortadellas tied for eighth at 150.

Sophomores Dana Todd (81-77) and Allison Sell (81-79) improved their shots in round two with Todd tying for 35th at 158 and Sell tying for 43rd at 160. Oklahoma Christian University’s other senior, Catherine Odgers, completed the Lady Eagles’ team with a tie for 67th place at 166 after shooting 81 and 85 over the 5,851-yard course.

“The girls have worked very hard at every aspect of their games [and] that’s all you can do,” Lynn said. “The most important thing to do now is to go and enjoy the game. If it’s not fun, then there is no point.”

The Lady Eagles will finish their season at the NCCAA Championship in Panama City, Florida, on Oct. 27.
