It is the day after the midterms in 2026, and Oklahoma has a new governor elect, Republican Mike Mazzei.
Mazzei’s website describes him as a “husband, father, businessman, and lifelong conservative who believes leadership is stewardship. Stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Stewardship of public trust. Stewardship of the future Oklahoma leaves to the next generation.”
Mazzei began his career in 1996 by founding Trinity Strategic Wealth, a financial firm built to help professional businesses. He was elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 2004, representing Senate District 25. He served four years in this position before becoming Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee in 2008. In 2018, he was appointed Oklahoma’s Secretary of Budget.
Mazzei ran on several platforms focused on benefitting Oklahomans and upholding their rights. His issues include eliminating property tax for seniors and veterans, protecting Oklahoma land from foreign investors, improving education, increasing high-paying jobs, government accountability and right to life.
The new governor elect focused his strategy on leveraging his long history of fiscal experience within the Oklahoma government as a part of his platform. He also had official endorsements from Gov. Kevin Stitt and President Donald Trump.
Gov. Stitt will finish off his last term and pass the position off to Mazzei. Stitt was not allowed to run for governor again due to local laws on term limits, and also decided not to replace Markwayne Mullin as a new Senator of Oklahoma.
Mazzei will be officially elected into office on Jan. 11, 2026. His main focus will be on tightening Oklahoma’s tax laws and improving Oklahoman lives around the state.
