Alfie Templeman Review

Uniqueness is often glorified and praised within our society, and other times it is looked down upon for being quirky and downright wrong. This is one of the latter moments. Alfie Templeman’s new EP, “Don’t Go Wasting Time,” equals the sound of nails on a chalkboard.

I have never truly liked his music, but this EP is by far the worst. On first listen, the mastering is downright awful: his voice is completely overpowered by the beat and sounds as if the music is coming into your ears from miles away.

Let me discuss the rhythm and beat of the songs. I truly do not know what is going on in each song. At the end of each song, I was left with a migraine from the odd journey I was just taken on by the beat. The instruments and beats combine to create the worst-sounding bass which distracts me as a listener from any other positive features the song might have.

Throughout the EP I get major COIN wannabe vibes, as if he wants to sound exactly likes them but comes of sounding like the red-headed stepchild. The whole sound of this EP is utterly pathetic. I feel as though I am stuck within a bad Weird Al Yankovic song I cannot escape.

Now to his voice. His voice is the worst part of the entire EP. I do not know what he was going for, but I doubt he succeeded. For half of the release, his singing is conquered by the instrumental parts of the music. I wondered if the vague sound was a consequence of the headphones I was using, so I switched those out with some new ones and was given the same result. Then I used a Bose speaker and nothing changed. It was then I knew—this guy messed up.

I almost wish the entire EP was like this. In the slim moments you can clearly hear his voice it reminds me of a pre-pubescent teenager who is trying to find out who he truly is but has made one too many mistakes along the way.

If I was not writing an article over this release, there was no way I would have finished the EP; it was that bad. I even went into it with an open mind. I wanted to be genuinely impressed. I truly did. Sadly, that did not happen. This is arguably my least favorite release all year, and I have heard some bad songs. Russ released music for crying out loud, and this is worse than that.

I truly have nothing good to say about the musical material in this album. To say something good about it: the cover art was cool, kind of. I do not know honestly, just please do not listen to this album under any circumstance. Or do, but do not say I did not warn you.

Can you say hater ? This article is PURE TRASH. If indeed that was your opinion , constructive criticism is good . Not this bullshit , negative , and arrogant article probably written by a Poor ugly writer who can’t even begin to sing or create a song let alone a good body of work. This article isn’t it , is trash and a hate comment . Instead of hating and being straight out hater why not write an article mention where his EP could’ve gone better or the technique/sounds , be helpful , not TRASH

oof imagine being this salty about music. i mean fair if it’s not entirely your cup of tea, but considering a) this dude is 16 years old and b) he’s been signed and already has a decent sized following, this feels a tad, i dont know- harsh. i genuinely cannot help myself but bop along to movies and circles, it is genuinely physically impossible not to which i thought was a really nice change from alfie’s usual mellow beats. fair enough if you wouldn’t go out of your way to listen to this music but you’re using unnecessary insults that are very misguided.
