Whitney Houston Estate to Release Posthumous Album

On Feb. 9, Whitney Houston’s estate announced their release of a posthumous album filled with gospel tracks, an homage to the singer’s favorite genre.

The record will be titled I Go to the Rock and will contain six unreleased tracks among other gospel songs. According to Good Morning America, the album is set for release on March 24.

The album’s release will also coincide with a new documentary which will span the singer’s first performance at her local church through the release of her 1996 soundtrack album: The Preacher’s Wife

Years after her 2012 death, Houston is still widely respected and discussed. She has been in the news over the past months thanks to a recently-released biopic about her entitled I Wanna Dance With Somebody

In over 20 years, Houston released seven total studio albums, one of which (the soundtrack to the movie The Bodyguard) remains one of the best selling albums of all time

On Feb. 8, Disney CEO Bob Iger issued several announcements regarding the future of the company, specifically upcoming movies.

Iger’s main announcement regarded sequels to popular Disney films. The CEO announced  sequels to both the Toy Story and Frozen franchises as well as a follow-up to the 2016 film Zootopia

Iger also announced the arrival of Pandora, the fictional world from the Avatar franchise, to Disneyland. While Orlando’s Disney World features an Avatar park, this will be a first for the Anaheim park.

Late Late Show With James Corden Officially Replaced

CBS is officially replacing The Late Late Show, a late night talk show most recently hosted by James Corden.

Corden announced his intentions to depart from the show last April, and on Feb. 8, the network publicized their decision to replace it with a reboot of @midnight, a late-night program produced by Stephen Colbert.

Running from 2013-2017, @midnight was a 30-minute program hosted by Chris Hardwick where guests and comedians would perform skits based off the internet.

Hardwick is not expected to return as host because CBS said it prefers a female host and is pushing for talent both in front and behind the camera to represent a range of diverse backgrounds.

Corden initially took over The Late Late Show in 2015, twenty years after the show began in 1995. The show was originally hosted by Tom Snyder, who was succeeded by Craig Kilborn and Craig Ferguson respectively.

Upon Corden’s arrival, multiple segments were added to the show, most famously Carpool Karaoke, in which Coorden sings songs with celebrities while driving through Los Angeles.

Alec Baldwin Sued by Halyna Hutchins’ Family

In addition to being charged with involuntary manslaughter for the fatal Rust shooting, the family of cinematographer Helyna Hutchins is suing Alec Baldwin.

Announced on Feb. 9, Hutchins’ parents and sister are suing the actor and naming various production companies in the complaint, as well as armorer Hannah Gutierrezz-Reed, who was also charged in January.

“I’d like those who are at fault to carry responsibility and not just someone, but the very someone who is truly responsible for this,” Hutchins’ sister said. “I believe to let this go and leave this unpunished is unallowable.”

The new suit alleges infliction of emotional distress and negligence among others. Producers Ryan Smith, Lengley Cheney, Anjul Nigam, Ryan Winterstein and Gabrielle Pickle were named, among others.

Gloria Allred, the family’s lawyer, echoed the sentiment of Hutchins’ sister, calling for those responsible to be prosecuted.

“The relationships of all our clients have been damaged, and they won’t be able to enjoy life the same way as when Halyna was alive.” Allred said.
