View 63, the weekly student-led devotional at Oklahoma Christian University, traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma for the first time in hopes of spreading faith.

View 63 broke out of its usual four walls and partnered with Oklahoma State University’s Campus Encounter for a combined praise and worship night on Feb. 20.

On Friday evening, 25 students attended the session with other college-age students part of the campus Encounter group.

Freshman Anna McCravey said she makes it a priority to make it to View 63 every Monday and saw this trip as an opportunity to reconnect with God despite the busy semester.

“It was cool to worship with people outside of OC,” McCravey said. “I didn’t really notice how many people were there until I turned around and saw how many people were in the room. It felt like View 63 all over again, but in a new place.”

‘View 63 On the Road’ was part of this weekend’s Campus Encounter event called “King Me. Is this seat taken?” It featured keynote speakers, class sessions, break out groups and worship with the Stillwater Church of Christ.

“The singing was definitely my favorite part of the trip, it was a great worship and I enjoyed meeting the people from Stillwater Church of Christ,” McCravey said.

With McCravey, freshman Kaydee Keene chose to spend her Friday night to worship among others.

“OC’s environment is very Christian-oriented and being able to get outside of our comfort zone and going to larger campuses to worship is a necessity,” Keene said. “It is a great feeling when we can minister to other people through praising God”.

Typically, View 63 is a student-led devotional on Monday nights in Scott’s Chapel.

“I have been leading View for about a year and a half now and have seen God work in my life since I have taken on the role,” senior Jabbarri Jones said.

About 100 students fill Scott’s Chapel every Monday at 10 p.m. for the student-lead View 63.

“The best part of View for me is hearing everyone worship God for themselves and not those around them or listening to the praise team,” Jones said. “It is real easy to get caught up listening to those on the microphone.”

Spring semester is a busy time for students with Spring Sing and other activities vying for their attention.

“When I wasn’t leading View, I was coming for songs of encouragement to help me get through the week and to remind me that God is ultimately in control of my life,” Jones said.

Jones said View 63 is a good break for all students in their week.

“You can easily get caught up in everyday life and go through the motions, but when we all come together for View 63, we all uplift one another through our praise and worship,” Jones said.
