President Donald Trump and the First Lady test positive for COVID-19

President Donald Trump and the First Lady Melania Trump both tested positive for COVID-19 late Thursday night, according to the president’s Twitter.

“Tonight, [Melania Trump] and I tested positive for COVID-19,” Trump tweeted. “We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER![sic]”

Trump will continue with his daily tasks while self quarantining, a memorandum from Trump’s physician Dr. Sean Conley, said.

“The president and the first lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence,” Conley said in the memorandum. “ … Rest assured I expect the president will continue carrying out his duties without disruptions while recovering…”

Both Trump’s were exposed to COVID-19 through Hope Hicks, a top White House Aide on Thursday. The president tweeted that they would be self isolating while awaiting their test results which came back positive later that night.

“Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19,” Trump tweeted. “Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process![sic]”

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
