An Oklahoma Christian University admissions counselor was dismissed earlier this week after asking students at a local high school to separate based on skin color and hair texture.
As first reported by KFOR, the admissions counselor visited Harding Charter Preparatory Academy in northeast Oklahoma City on Monday, Feb. 24. The male employee asked students to line up from lightest to darkest complexion. He then requested the students separate based on hair texture. The motive behind this exercise is unclear at this time.
Oklahoma Christian condemned the act in a statement to the Talon.
“The OC admissions counselor who visited Harding Charter Preparatory Academy on Monday is no longer an Oklahoma Christian University employee,” the statement said. “OC admissions leadership did not approve the inappropriate activity in advance and has communicated closely with Harding administration since the visit.”
Oklahoma Christian officials plan to visit Harding Academy on Monday to publicly apologize to students and staff, according to the statement.
The university has not released the identity of the involved admissions counselor.
