With just two weeks left until Election Day, presidential candidates Harris and Trump are amplifying their campaigns in key swing states, with every vote in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada poised to decide the election.
To start the final campaign stretch, both candidates are traveling around battleground Pennsylvania — holding rallies, meeting supporters and driving across the state on lengthy bus tours.
The Harris Haul
Vice President Kamala Harris has spent the past weekend campaigning in crucial battleground states, Michigan and Georgia.
Harris plans to commence her tour in Pennsylvania with former U.S. Congresswoman Liz Cheney in Chester County, PA, on Monday, Oct. 21. The pair are set to engage in moderated conversations not only in Pennsylvania but also in Michigan and Wisconsin.
CBS News reported the pair issued many condemnations towards Trump and his campaign, stating it was divisive to Americans, although current polls suggest half of the U.S. is prepared to vote for him.
“Vice President Kamala Harris and former U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney painted former President Donald Trump as a threat to democracy and national security in a bipartisan appeal to Republican and undecided voters Monday in Chester County, Pennsylvania, as the 2024 presidential election enters its final stretch.”
To stoke the flames of Harris’ swing state stretch, Cheney gave dire statements for any undecided voters, per CBS.
“The former congresswoman said the choice in November’s election comes down to defending the Constitution, pointing to Trump not accepting the results of the 2020 election and Jan. 6 as evidence the former president is a danger to democracy.”
Cheney even began issuing the recent rhetoric of the Harris campaign, which claims Trump is mentally unfit for the office of president while telling American voters to vote for the same party which declared Joe Biden was perfectly fit for office.
“[Cheney] explained that her decision to endorse Harris began with her being a conservative who prioritizes the Constitution over her political party. She said the choice between Harris and Trump on foreign policy is ‘absolutely clear,’ calling Trump ‘totally erratic, completely unstable.’”
The Trump Tour
On Sunday, Oct. 20, President Trump visited a suburban Pennsylvanian McDonald’s (Feasterville, Bucks County, PA) in an attempt to appeal to working-class voters and jab Vice President Harris’ recent comments on being employed at America’s famous fast food chain.
“Trump stopped at the McDonald’s in Feasterville, Bucks County, on Sunday, where he donned an apron and worked the drive-thru. The former president handed out food to pre-selected supporters in five cars.
“The restaurant was otherwise closed to the public for the morning. Hundreds of people tried to catch a glimpse of Trump from across the street,” according to CBS.
To continue the momentum, Team Trump announced their Pennsylvania campaign bus tour will stop, according to the Washington Examiner, in “cities across the state, including Bethlehem, Allentown, Wilkes-Barre, State College, Punxsutawney, Erie, New Castle, Canonsburg, Monroeville, Duncansville, Chambersburg, Carlisle, and Hershey.”
After receiving flak over recent comments about late pro-golfer Arnold Palmer early in the tour, Trump pivoted to attend the NFL game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets possibly to save face.
President Trump seems to be simply reinforcing his agenda across the Keystone State as national polls show the Republican and Democrat neck-in-neck, desperately trying to gain any edge possible.
Harris seems to be strategizing with Liz Cheney while Trump is using Elon Musk and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to his advantage with moderate, undecided and independent voters.
Both candidates are hunkering down on their campaign messaging and turning any last-minute events or circumstances to their advantage. These last two weeks before Election Day conjure up some of the most high-stake decisions a presidential nominee can make. Americans will decide on Nov. 5 whether those decisions were the right ones.
