Despite scoring in the first 20 minutes and outshooting their opponent 27-19, the Oklahoma Christian University men’s soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime to Dallas Baptist University Oct. 19.
Sophomore Garrett Blume put the Eagles up 1-0 early with a goal in the 19th minute from 35-yards out.
Oklahoma Christian held the Patriots scoreless until the 87th minute when they tied it up 1-1 and forced the game into overtime.
Neither team scored during the first overtime, but Dallas Baptist broke through the defense and hit a shot in at the 109:06 mark to end the game.
Junior Gary Goldsboro Jr. had seven saves in his first start of the season.
Two days later, the Eagles hosted St. Edwards University, the 16th ranked team in the NCAA Division II coaches poll, and lost 4-0.
St. Edwards outshot the Eagles 11-9 on the game and Goldsboro Jr. had a single save.
The Lady Eagles went back on the road to play St. Edwards in Austin, TX Oct. 19 and fell 6-0.
Oklahoma Christian trailed almost instantly as the Hilltoppers scored their first goal 45 seconds into the game.
Sophomore Addison Milner, the Heartland Conference leader in saves, added four more to her total, pushing her total to 105.
In their final road game of the season, the Lady Eagles took on Heartland Conference leader Dallas Baptist in Dallas, TX Oct. 21, losing 6-0.
The Patriots scored their first goal in the 12th minute and outshot the Lady Eagles 22-3.
Milner had three saves, with a season total of 108.
The Eagles will play their last game of the regular season in Claremore, OK against Rogers State University while the Lady Eagles will host Newman University for their final game. The women play at 4 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. Oct. 26.
