Lady Eagles fly 94-58 over Oklahoma Panhandle State

Despite a close first quarter, the Oklahoma Christian University women’s basketball team pulled away and broke open the score to defeat Oklahoma Panhandle State University 94-58 on Feb. 6.

Sarah Parker led the Lady Eagles offensively with 19 points. Other Oklahoma Christian threats included Addy Clift with 13 points, McKenzie Stanford with 10 and Emma Gade and Aisha Martin with eight a piece.

All 17 Lady Eagles saw the floor at some point in the conference matchup.

“It was just so cool that everyone on our team got a chance to get on the court and show the talents that God has given us,” Parker said. “Jasmine Hinton did our team devotional before the game and she talked about coming out and attacking them first and that’s exactly what we did.”

The Lady Eagles outrebounded the Aggies 47-36, while also collecting 23 assists and 14 steals. They shot 61 percent from the 3-point line, going 11-18 and 17-20 from the free-throw line.

Despite carrying a four-point lead at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles extended the score to 49-28 at halftime.

“This was such a great win for us,” Parker said. “It was definitely a great bounce back game and a great opportunity to come together and build team chemistry.”

With their win over the Aggies, the Lady Eagles are now 11-12 overall and 8-5 in conference play. They are currently tied with St. Mary’s University for fourth place in the Heartland Conference.

“We just have to keep our energy up,” Parker said. “It’s toward the end of season but that is no excuse for us to be tired and for us not to work. I’m definitely excited for our game this Thursday.”

The Lady Eagles will host the Newman University Jets on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
