Lady Eagles place 10th in ORU Shootout

Oklahoma Christian sophomore Kate Goodwin earned the Heartland Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week award for the second time in her career after placing 12th in the Bob Hurley ORU Shootout, hosted by Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK on Sept. 26 and 27.

The Lady Eagles golf team placed 10th place in the 17-team field, finishing the final round with a team score of 309 and a total of 931.

Goodwin finished the competition tied for 12th place with a 3-over-par 74. Oklahoma Christian competed as one of the two non-NCAA Division I schools in the event.

Freshman Abigail Rigsby posted her second top-20 finish of the fall season as she tied for 16th place in the 90-woman field with 229 after shooting a final-round 78.

Other Oklahoma Christian golfers included senior Allison Sell, who tied for 49th with 238 after shooting an 80; sophomore Elizabeth Freeman, who tied for 59th at 241 after shooting 78 and freshman Ashton Nemecek, who tied for 78th with 249 after shooting 79.

Three of Oklahoma Christian’s golfers also competed in the Oklahoma Baptist University Fall Invitational in Shawnee, OK as individuals.

Senior Mindy Stafford shot a career-best round of 4-over-par 76, which left her tied for 36th with 164. Her previous best round was an 83. Senior Dana Todd tied for 25th place out of the 75-woman field with 159 after shooting an 80 and junior Chaise Lucero placed 52nd after shooting an 88 to end at 172.

The Lady Eagles played their opening round of the the University of Central Oklahoma RCB Classic at The Golf Club of Edmond yesterday morning and will finish the second round of the tournament today.
