In her first career start, freshman Addy Clift led the Lady Eagles past the Southwestern Christian University Lady Eagles with a final score of 88-51. Clift finished with a career-high 17 points including 5-8 from 3-point range.

Oklahoma Christian University’s veteran frontcourt, Sarah Parker, assisted Clift in the victory. Parker had 16 points and eight rebounds of her own while McKenzie Stanford added 10 more points.

Women’s Basketball Head Coach Stephanie Findley said despite the lopsided score this was a much-needed game for her team. “We’ve been struggling a lot and not shooting the ball very well,” Findley said. “We needed to come out and start with a bang and I think that’s exactly what we did.”

Hope Dawkins came off the bench and added a spark for Oklahoma Christian, finishing with career highs in blocks and rebounds with four and six respectively.

Findley applauded her bench’s play. “Hope is a good shot-blocker,” Findley said. “That’s one of the things I liked about her in high school. You saw that with her tonight. She was getting the timing down and swatting them out of there.”

Oklahoma Christian began the game on a 25-2 run and led at halftime 45-16. The lead never dropped below 30 points after that, sealing the 88-51 victory.

The Lady Eagles will have a set of road games coming up, taking on Cameron University in Lawton on Saturday then traveling to Weatherford to take on Southwestern Oklahoma State University next Tuesday.

Findley said this set of games would be a good test for how her team has been working. “It’s going to be two tough road games,” Findley said. “Nothing is easy in Division II — that’s for sure. You’ve got to earn all of them. We were just glad to have this chance to make some shots and maybe get back on track offensively as we head out on the road.”
