Oklahoma Christian University’s women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the Central Oklahoma-RCB Bank Classic with a final team score of 623 on Monday and Tuesday in Edmond, .
“We played fantastic on day two but we collapsed late on the last three holes,” Head Coach Greg Lynn said. “We need to keep competing against everyone, especially the teams in our conference. A lot of good things happened but no excuses, we need to play better.”
Senior Allison Sell finished the competition in a tie for sixth, her fourth career top-10 finish, on a final round of 2-under-par 69, the best score of her collegiate career. She had a two-round score of 150, seven shots behind the first place finisher.
Freshman Abigail Rigsby also finished in the top-10 for the Lady Eagles after a final round of 79 leaving her with 152, and placed her into a tie for 10th place.
Other golfers for the Lady Eagles included sophomore Elizabeth Freeman, who shot 80 to close the event out with 161 in a tie for 32nd; sophomore Kate Goodwin, who hit an 86 to finish in a tie for 38th with 163 and freshman Ashton Nemecek who finished in a tie for 74th at 174 after shooting an 83.
Three other golfers from Oklahoma Christian competed as individuals. Junior Chaise Lucero shot an 86 to tie for 70th at 172 and seniors Dana Todd and Mindy Stafford both tied for 78th at 177, Todd shot an 88 while Safford hit an 87.
The Lady Eagles will compete in the Dallas Baptist Classic at the Golf Club of Dallas, TX on Oct. 10 and 11.
