The Talon reached out to all of the Spring Sing social service club directors to share the individual theme they chose to align with this year’s overall Spring Sing theme: “Let’s Go to the Movies.” The following clubs submitted responses. Spring Sing 2026 takes place the weekend of Mar. 6-7.
Freshmen: The Muppets

“It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights, it’s time to meet the freshmen for this Spring Sing show tonight! The freshmen are excited to present the Muppets as their Spring Sing theme this year. Decked in green and pink, the freshman will portray Kermit and Miss Piggy on stage. But keep an eye out, you might be able to recognize some of your favorite Muppets from the show. The Muppets have been an iconic part of culture and film for the past few decades (over 50 years!), and over that span of time, they’ve been able to spread smiles and laughter to thousands of people. That’s why we picked this theme, to have the opportunity to put smiles on the faces in the audience. We are so excited to share our performance to everyone, see you soon!”
Beta Beta Sigma: Jurassic Park

“This choice came easier than we thought, as we looked through the archives of old Spring Sing shows and found ourselves admiring Psi’s Jurassic Park show a lot, and former Iota’s Flintstones show as well. These wonderful previous clubs so inspire Beta. As we thought about the theme, we really wanted this inspiration to be formed into a show that was uniquely Beta as well, but also used primarily female characters. So our show features carnivorous girl-bosses and women in STEM. And, the thing that topped off our theme choice was the fact that Beta was resurrected from the dead, just like the dinosaurs in the movie. Beta is so excited to premiere this show, blending unique choices and humor to create a show that’s really not like any other. We try to honor the past while making our show individual at the same time, bringing back some older iconic moves as well as making new ones. We hope we live up to the spectacle like the dinosaurs in the movie and the timeless themes of teamwork and unity. We hope to see you at opening day!”
Kappa Sigma Tau: Up

“The brothers of Kappa Sigma Tau have chosen the theme of Wilderness Explorers, inspired by the film Up, as a way to symbolize our journey and growth throughout Spring Sing history. Like the explorers in the story, from young to old we embrace challenges and view them as opportunities to push ourselves further, strengthening our determination to succeed. Our performance highlights this adventurous spirit through our club pride. We are especially excited to bring this classic club to new heights; we may even reach Paradise Falls. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant style and nostalgia of the 1990s, Kappa Sigma Tau is proud to celebrate Spring Sing traditions from previous decades. Our show combines past and present influences to deliver an energetic, memorable performance that honors our history while looking ahead to the future.”
Theta Theta Theta: Barbie

“The women of Theta Theta Theta are so excited for this year’s Spring Sing show! We’ve decided to be Barbies, mixing the classic doll with the more modern movie. Barbie is all about sisterhood, friendship, and empowerment, and Theta is so ready to bring these values to the stage. This show has been so much fun to put together, and we are so excited to take everyone along for the ride! We can’t wait for everyone to see what we have in store.”
Gamma Rho: Cinderella

“The theme for our spring sing show is Cinderella and Her Mice! We chose this theme for our club because we think it greatly fits our personality. Gamma can be silly, fun, and friendly like the little mice while simultaneously striving for Cinderella’s qualities of hard work, kindness, and servant-heartedness. This combination led us to believe this was the theme for us! We are most excited for the final product of the show to arrive and to share it with everyone else. We have been creating and developing this theme for a long time, and it will be so fun to share Gamma’s work with others and see the work of all the clubs as well! A fun fact about our theme is that Gamma individually crafts all of our costumes, so we hand-sewed all three different group characters and part-timers!”
Alpha Gamma Omega: Back to the Future

“Our theme is Back to the Future. It was honestly the first theme we thought of when we got the overall Spring Sing theme, but we really thought someone else would get it. When the executives told us we could do it, we were pretty excited because it’s our 50th year as a club, and a movie about going into the past was very fitting. After watching the movie again, we found that there were a lot of funny aspects that most people forget, so we hope our show can be a fun reminder of how crazy this classic movie was.”
Chi Lambda Phi: Scooby Doo

“There’s a monster loose in Coolsville! Join the men of Chi Lambda Phi as they catch the creep, and see who’s hiding behind the mask. The dynamic duo of Shaggy and Scooby was chosen, as we feel the characteristics of these two really represent what Chi stands for. Take Shaggy for example – on the surface, he is a laid back individual with a rich sense of humor. The characteristics of Shaggy are best revealed by his choice of clothes: A baggy green t-shirt and baggy red pants. The loose fitting threads represent how Shaggy’s life is all about going with the flow and being present in the moment. He is a laid back individual, often described as a hippy, and is down to do whatever arises at a moment’s notice. The clash of colors in the clothes shows that Shaggy sees that life is full of conflict, but that harmony can be found in the midst of chaos if one is willing to look for it. Shaggy is not only a mediator in his group, but a peacemaker as well. Some would call him the glue that keeps his crew together. But beneath the baggy clothes is a loyal and vulnerable soul who is willing to do anything for the people he cares about, even if it is sacrificing his own safety and comfort to catch a monster. Shaggy is a deeply complex character that truly exemplifies what it means to be a Scotsman. Now on the character of Scooby – he likes food and says his words funny. Every day in Chi, we strive to be a little bit more like Scooby. We look forward to showing you our take on the classic movie Scooby Doo.”
