Professor of accounting Mickey Cowan died Saturday, Oct. 5, after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 72 years old.
A native of Ada, OK, Cowan arrived at Oklahoma Christian University in August 2000 with decades of accounting experience. He remained on staff at Oklahoma Christian until this past August, when he took a leave of absence to address health concerns.
In addition to his work in the business field, Cowan spent decades as an announcer and historian for Ada Cougars athletics. The football team honored him last month during a special “Mick Day” ceremony.
Cowan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vauda, son Billy Jack and three grandchildren.
