SGA Weekly Update

On Wednesday, Jan.18, Oklahoma Christian University’s Student Government Association held their first senate meeting of the semester. During their meeting, they discussed spring events, funding proposals, class activities, Eagle Eye and kicked off their new way of encouraging students around campus.

SGA president Micah Burke began the meeting by welcoming the senate back from Christmas break. Jeb Klafter followed Burke with the weekly Bible verse and prayer.

The meeting continued as Burke went over the SGA spring semester schedule.

Sigma Tau Delta submitted  a funding proposal for the Sigma Tau Delta International Conference. This year’s conference will be held in Colorado and Oklahoma Christian will be sending six students.

After the funding request, the senate split up by grade to brainstorm ideas for this year’s class activities. Each class will receive $200 for an activity put on by their SGA representatives.

Following the small group discussions, events from Eagle Eye were presented. SGA talked about different events coming up such as spring rush, intramurals, History Speaks, Taco Tuesday and the spring sing Coffee Camper.

To end the night, Burke introduced SGA’s “Noted Project.” Each week, members of SGA will write encouraging notes to different groups on campus to show their support. This week’s group will be the men and women’s basketball teams.
