SGA holds committee reports, bylaw passed

The Student Government Association (SGA) heard reports from each committee at last night’s meeting.

In other actions, SGA attendees and one proxy voter motioned to pass the bylaw concerning the addition of departmental representatives to the academics committee. The bylaw will go into effect next semester.

The activities committee, run by SGA vice president Taylor Dotson, has many events planned for this semester. Upcoming events include the Glow Run Oct. 16 and date week Nov. 12-16.

Nash Scott, chair of the campus improvements committee, plans to get Bird and Lime scooters on campus. He said he encourages anyone with ideas on how to improve the campus to contact him.

Molly Peterson presented on behalf of the elections and operations committee. This semester, the committee will make the SGA office more functional by creating a closet inventory, keeping the snacks stocked and maintaining a check-out system for SGA items.

The multicultural committee wants to improve, notice and create a welcoming environment for the students of Oklahoma Christian with diverse backgrounds, chairman Thomas Caldwell said. The committee will hold a Piñata Day Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. in the forum in honor of National Hispanic Heritage month.

The spiritual life committee plans to host an international gospel meeting this semester to make sure students from all backgrounds understand the story of Jesus from a non-denominational perspective. Additionally, the committee plans to partner with Rachel Parrett and the Unify initiative this year.

The SGA pushed their first Town Hall back to Oct.11 at 5 p.m. in Cail Auditorium. All students and faculty are welcome to ask questions and make comments directed toward SGA executives.
