SGA holds last meeting of the semester

At the last meeting of the semester, the Student Government Association voted on funding requests, listened to presentations and reflected on the semester.

Chief Academic Officer Scott LaMascus helped to facilitate a discussion about reformatting the general education math program at Oklahoma Christian University. Math professors Jennifer Bryan and Bryon Newberry took suggestions and answered any questions students had about the change.

Last week, two student guest speakers from the Oklahoma Student Government Association (OSGA) presented a method of conducting SGA meetings called “Robert’s Rules.” Last night, students had the opportunity to discuss the rules and whether or not they wanted to adopt them.

While some students believed the rules displayed a level of decorum, others saw the rules as inefficient and unnecessary. SGA executives said they will attempt to find a happy medium between the two sides next semester.

SGA sponsor Liz McElroy led a discussion about the association’s highs and lows for the semester. Highs included work ethic, date week, campus spirit and the campus improvements committee. Most of the lows focused on the ethos program and the lack of genuine spiritual life on campus.

The University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma Christian bedlam game is today at UCO. The campus spirit committee will give out free t-shirts to students who attend.
