WEATHER – 10AM – Condition of Campus and Surrounding Areas

At 5:21am Neil Arter, Oklahoma Christian University’s Dean of Students, announced that campus would be closed on Friday, March, 11, 2022.

Four hours later, snow is steadily falling around campus, covering dorms and cars. The National Weather Service estimates that a total of two to three inches of snow will accumulate throughout the day.

Weather.com indicates that the snowfall should continue through 1 p.m. They also indicate that it is currently 25 degrees but feels like 11 and that today’s temperature may peak to about 37 degrees around 5 p.m.

A few weather-related resources can also be found at KFOR.com. At the time of posting, there are 78 areas under weather alert and 248 active closings.

KFOR also provides a traffic radar which currently displays almost 50 slow-downs around Oklahoma City, two of which are crashes. One crash is located at 122nd St at Penn Ave, while the other is on the entry ramp to the Kilpatrick Turnpike East Eastbound from Lake Hefner Parkway Northbound.

The Twitter account for NWS Norman tweeted that “If (you) have to travel, Be careful, give yourself extra time & plenty of room.”

Due to the campus closure, this concludes the Talon’s weather coverage, though the above resources can still be used at this time.

Stay informed, safe, and warm.
