Weekly COVID update

Last week Oklahoma saw two straight record setting days of new COVID-19 cases. Oklahoma also saw hospitalizations get to an all time record high.

On Friday Oklahoma reported 1,524 new cases and on Saturday it reported 1,533. Two record setting days for the state of Oklahoma. On Monday Oklahoma reported an all time high of 760 COVID-19 hospitalizations. With ICU patients also nearing an all time high, on Monday there were 277 COVID-19 patients in the ICU.

This past week Oklahomans saw the total number of COVID-19 cases reach 100,000. The total cases now sits at 100,184

Among Oklahoma cities Edmond is ranked fifth in total confirmed cases with 3,262. Edmond also has reported 23 COVID-19 related deaths. 

Edmond is a part of Oklahoma County which is currently in the orange color-coded area

Oklahoma Christian University has reported 2 current active cases on campus as of Oct. 12. There are also 13 students in quarantine or isolation and 3 employees. There have been 121 total COVID-19 cases since July 31.
“IMMY Labs – our campus COVID testing partner – is expanding testing and will add a Friday testing option on campus beginning this Friday, October 9 (7 a.m. to 1 p.m.),” Risa Forrester, Oklahoma Christian’s chief communication officers, said. “They will continue to also test on Sundays and Tuesdays.”
