12 different swimmers broke records at Turkey Meet

Before heading home for Thanksgiving, the Oklahoma Christian University women’s swim team competed in the Edmond YMCA Turkey Meet Nov. 18 and 19.

Freshman Ashley Harmon set four school records in the two-day event, the first being a 4:48.49 finish in the 400 individual medley.

Harmon set the school record with a first place finish in the 200 backstroke, recording a time of 2:11.06. The other two records were in the 200 butterfly at 2:14.03 and the 100 backstroke in 1:02.55.

Harmon was named the Eagle of the Week for the second time this year following her four record-setting performances. She is the first athlete to be given this award twice.

Freshman Hanna Forbat posted a school record in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.32 and in the 200 individual medley, finishing in 2:17.87.

Freshman Heidi Fritscher set another new record for Oklahoma Christian at 55.33 seconds in the 100 freestyle.

For the men’s team, nine different individuals set a school record in different events.

Freshman Noah Woollweever set two records, one in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.44 and the other in the 100 backstroke in 54.61 seconds.

Freshman Dylan Ingram took the 100 breaststroke record in 1:01.68, freshman Carter Shelton took the 200 freestyle record with a time of 1:48.11, freshman Kurt Gscheidle broke the record in the 100 butterfly in 54.41 seconds and freshman Ian Galindo finished in 4:38.13 to break the 400 individual medley record.

On the second day of the meet, freshman Derek Duckworth broke his personal record in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.59 seconds and the 100 freestyle in 48.21 seconds.

In the 200 breaststroke, freshman Andrew Assaleh posted a time of 2:17.37 to break his previous record of 2:27.04.

Freshman Brittan Butler broke his personal record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:04.80.

Freshman Ruger Stocking finished out the day by setting a record of 2:11.58 in the 200 butterfly.

Both teams will compete in the Hendrix Invitational in Conway, AR Dec. 1–2.
