The Eagles soccer team is in a 2-0 losing streak after a second shutout game.

Oklahoma Christian University hosted Dallas Baptist University, one of the best teams in the conference, on Saturday.

The score remained nil for most of the game until the Patriots’ Riley Alvey scored off a penalty kick in the 76th minute. Twelve minutes later, Michalin Dennie scored unassisted from 35 yards out, putting Dallas Baptist 2-0 over the Eagles.

Eagle goalkeeper Evan Helker recorded seven saves in the game, identical to Patriot goalkeeper Mason Stringer’s save-count. Oklahoma Christian outshot Dallas Baptist 16-12 for the game, but failed to capitalize.

“We created opportunities multiple times but always came up short,” junior Taylor Vanderford said. “We just need to get our heads straight and focus on the rest of the season.”

The loss to Dallas Baptist is Oklahoma Christian’s second consecutive shutout. The first loss of the two-game skid eliminated the Eagles four-game streak.

Although the Eagles are 6-4 for the season, the team is currently 0-2 in their conference.

Oklahoma Christian travels to Odessa, Texas on Thursday to face the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
