Eagles take a win after shutout streak

The Eagles soccer team recorded a 2-0 win on Thursday against the University of Texas-Permian Basin after two consecutive shutouts last week.

According to senior Brandon Little Axe, Oklahoma Christian University stuck close to the game plan from the beginning.

“We came out this evening fast and ready to execute the game plan,” Little Axe said. “We finished our opportunities and kept the game the way we wanted it.”

The Eagles scored first in the 13th minute when Little Axe made a goal off an assist from Troy Tippeconnic and Clay Collier. Less than 10 minutes later, Sergio Flores assisted Ante Susic for the second and final goal of the game in the 22nd minute.

The second half appeared stagnant, Little Axe said.

“Second half we let the game get stretched to their advantage, but we kept working hard to keep the result,” Little Axe said.

Texas-Permian Basin outshot Oklahoma Christian 20-10, but goalkeeper Evan Helker’s eight saves kept the Falcons at bay.

The Eagles travel to Lubbock Christian University on Saturday.
