After a long and hard fought season, intramural basketball has finally come to an end. Make sure to read until the end to see the All-Intramural Teams!
Women’s
A and B league championships featured two showdowns between Lambda Chi Zeta and the freshmen. Both games were close until the very end, but both times Isaiah White’s coaching pushed Lambda to the win. The wins propel push Lambda into a position they have not been in since 2004: a chance to win All Sports.
While winning both leagues has set Lambda up in a comfortable position, \Gamma Rho was set back in the A league third place game, where Theta Theta Theta won by two points. Defending runner up Allie Neilson took control, dropping 12 points and leading Theta to a third place finish. Gamma is the only club left who can catch Lambda, but they have work to do if they want to win all sports and break the record of most consecutive all sports titles (14, won by Gamma from 1986-1999 and from 2010-2024).
Men’s
The most comfortable win across all the championship games was Chi Lambda Phi C over the freshmen. Kade Schuermann and company were on form, and while the Freshmen fought back it was not enough.
Men’s B was a duel all the way until the end. Delta Gamma Sigma held a solid lead against the freshmen despite the absence of guard Luke Ferguson. That was, until the very end, where the freshmen started hitting their three-point attempts. Brady Baird got the ball rolling for the freshmen by hitting back to back threes, and helped them hold onto a one point lead to win the game.
Men’s A took the excitement from the Men’s B championship and cranked that level up to 11. Kappa Sigma Tau had to improvise after an early knee injury kept former athlete of the week Jake Hergert out of most of the game. The final few minutes was a shootout going back and forth between Chi’s Parker Landes, Landon Parker, and Carter Neal barely outshooting Cade Berkey, Nick Gimotty, and Brayden Olson. Chi held on at the end, and walked away with a huge win. The wins in basketball eliminates all guy’s clubs except Delta from all sports contention, and puts Chi in a comfortable position over Delta. Similar to Gamma, Delta has a chance, but it will require a lot of work from the defending all sports champions.
Women’s Intramural Athlete of the Week: Olivia Hampton (Lambda Chi Zeta)

Working the ball up against the top defenders in the league is no easy feat, but Lambda’s athletic director Olivia Hampton was up for the task. Attacking the paint to find openings for her teammates, Hampton was on top of things offensively. And if that was not enough, her defensive efforts and positioning kept the freshmen in check. Overall her performance this school year shows just how dangerous Lambda will be next year.
First Runner Up: Madi Mannering (Freshmen)
No matter how hard an athlete trains, you cannot teach height. That was proven in the A league championship where Madi Mannering won rebound after rebound and scored over the heads of Lambda defenders. Mannering’s defensive efforts were also huge, greatly limiting Lambda’s offense and keeping the freshmen in the game until the very end.
Second Runner Up: Sydney Hampton (Lambda Chi Zeta)
It is always hard deciding between which Hampton sister is the better player. And the answer really comes down to which metrics you want to use. While Olivia handles the ball and looks for more passing opportunities, Sydney Hampton dominates in scoring. Like every game she played in this year, Hampton truly was a force of nature, and the fact that she has another year next year to play with her sister creates a terrifying duo that other clubs will have difficulty overcoming.
Men’s Intramural Athlete of the Week: Carter Neal (Chi Lambda Phi)

How do you stop a problem like Kappa A basketball? You turn to Carter Neal to take over. Neal was everywhere in the championship game, from fast break layups to consistent three-point shooting. Neal’s leadership on the court and ability to match up defensively on Kappa’s top players allowed Chi to run with the top seed all game, and pull away for the win at the very end.
First Runner Up: Buddy Lambert (Kappa Sigma Tau)
From finding cracks in the tough Chi defense to limiting the talent of Chi’s ball handlers, Buddy Lambert had a lot on his plate in the championship. But he gritted his teeth and went to work, and helped step up big time after hergert left with a knee injury. Lambert finishes his intramural career with three A league championship appearances, and being a star in every single one of them.
Second Runner Up: Nick Gimotty (Kappa Sigma Tau)
Having to step for in the absence of a starter can kill some teams, but Nick Gimotty stood tall, at times single-handedly willing Kappa back in front with long three after long three. Gimotty has had a back and forth intramural basketball career, but he can end it on a high despite not winning the big game.
