Lady Eagles wipe out St. Edward’s

The Oklahoma Christian University women’s basketball team opened its last home stretch of the 2015-2016 season with a 94-67 win over St. Edward’s University in the Nest.

The Lady Eagles recorded three players in double-digits, with McKenzie Stanford and Sarah Parker finishing the game with 25 and 18 points, respectively. Freshman Addy Clift went 8-11 from the field and 5-7 from behind the arc to add a career-high of 24 points for the Lady Eagles.

“I’ve been in a pretty bad slump, so it was nice to to be able to hit some shots,” Clift said.

As they entered halftime, the Lady Eagles led the Hilltoppers 45-37, but broke the score open in the second half to lead by 35 points. The Hilltoppers outrebounded the Lady Eagles 37-36, who retaliated by forcing 15 steals and adding 27 points off Hilltopper turnovers.

In a game where every Oklahoma Christian player saw the floor, 37 of its points came from players who started on the bench.

“We hit some good shots, hit the girls who were open, and just really hustled,” Clift said. “I think it was an awesome night for everyone.”

Oklahoma Christian now holds a 13-14 overall record and is 10-7 in conference play.

The Lady Eagles will wrap up their regular season on Saturday as they host the University of Texas of the Permian Basin at 1 p.m.
