The Student Athletic Advisory Committee joins Eagle PR in a raffle ticket fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation during the men and women’s basketball games Thursday night.
SAAC Secretary Jordan Chism said the fundraiser started four or five years ago but hasn’t become popular until now, due to the “mod podge of donations.”
“We don’t know what to expect,” Chism said. “I would say we would be super happy if we just raised $1,000. Next year our goal is to actually fund a wish… and for that you have to raise $8,000.”
Raffle tickets are $1 each or five for $3 and the drawing will be held at halftime of the men’s basketball game. Donation buckets will be passed through the stands during both games and at a table outside of the gym.
The complete list of raffle prizes includes five date night baskets – made up of a restaurant gift card, a movie and candy, two Thunder tickets and a free parking pass, two OKC Dodgers tickets, an Eagles “swag” basket and gift cards to Old School Bagel Café and Klemm’s Smoke Haus.
Winners of the half-court shot competition will receive Chick-fil-A and Alfredo’s gift cards.
Free Chick-fil-A – 200 sandwiches, 100 cookies and free coupons – will be supplied during the night to draw crowds to the game as well.
“We’re not really telling people when we’re going to give the sandwiches…we want people to come for the game and support basketball so it’s not just going to be a come-and-go thing,” Chism said.
Chism said mascot entertainment will also be provided.
“They’ll have two Chick-fil-A cows and Ike the Eagle and we want them to have a dance-off between the games,” Chism said.
The Lady Eagles host Newman University at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
