Swim teams compete in first Edmond meet of season

In the third meet of the season, freshman Brittan Butler posted top-three placements in two of his three events for the Oklahoma Christian University men’s swim team in the Edmond Halloween Meet Oct. 28-29.

Butler posted a third-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley, which broke the Oklahoma Christian record with a time of 2:09.25. He took ninth place in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:31.59 and second place in the 400-yard individual with a time of 4:46.28.

“So far, things are going pretty well,” Butler said. “Our team is made up of all freshmen, but we are standing up to most of the big players in the game. Coach [Davis] is pushing us hard each week, and I feel that we are improving and placing well for a new team.”

After his placements in the meet, Butler was given the Eagle of the Week award.

“[The team] clicked after day one,” Butler said. “This team is like a family and I couldn’t have done it without them. No team I have been on feels as close as this one right now.”
