After returning from a week on the road, the Oklahoma Christian University women’s basketball team opened its four-game home series with an 87-59 loss to the undefeated No. 1 Heartland Conference team, Lubbock Christian University.
McKenzie Stanford and Sarah Parker led the Lady Eagles offensively, finishing the game with 22 and 18 points, respectively. Jasmine Hinton added three steals.
Despite the Lady Eagles keeping within five points of LCU at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Chaps extended their lead to 46-30 by halftime.
“I feel like we got a good start as far as finishing our shots,” freshman Addy Clift said. “Personally, I could not hit my 3-pointers very well, and LCU just didn’t miss.”
In the first half of the game, Oklahoma Christian went 11-35 from the field and 2-9 from behind the arc. The Lady Eagles outshot LCU from the free-throw line, but were outrebounded 45-28.
This win extended the Lady Chap’s undefeated record to 19-0. Oklahoma Christian is now 10-12 overall and 7-5 in conference play and is currently sitting fifth in the Heartland Conference.
“In order to bounce back and prepare for Saturday’s game, we just have to practice and forget about tonight,” Clift said. “They were just a really good team.”
The Lady Eagles will host Oklahoma Panhandle State University on Saturday at 1 p.m.
