Oklahoma Christian University just enjoyed a full week off for Thanksgiving break. The Talon compiled a list of ways students spent this much-needed time away. Students shared their favorite parts about break.
· “Hanging out with my little cousins.”
What a great time to visit family, especially when family includes little ones! Thanksgiving break offered the perfect chance to head back home or make a few trips to see different family members and tell them how thankful you are for them.
· “Getting to sleep.”
After a long semester of school, homework, and more school, catching up on sleep is always a great way to spend a break. Put on your favorite tv show, grab a cozy blanket or two, and fall asleep in your own bed.
· “Eating a lot of good food.”
What’s Thanksgiving without a feast? There’s nothing better than going home or to a friend’s house for a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal! There’s always a lot of yummy leftovers too.
· “Creating a Hobbit-themed Thanksgiving dinner.”
Want something a little less traditional? Transform your table into a movie-themed masterpiece and have fun with special decorations and a dress code fitting for the occasion. This can make your Thanksgiving meal even more memorable!
· “Running a 5k.”
Many families celebrate Thanksgiving with an annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning. It is a fun tradition to stay active and get some steps in before the big meal.
· “Buying a new motorcycle.”
Thanksgiving break may be a week to not only reward yourself with good food and sleep but also a new vehicle! Or maybe you rewarded yourself with a more budget-friendly gift instead.
· “Going rock climbing for the first time.”
Thanksgiving break is a great time to try something new, especially if it’s something you’ve always wanted to do! Rock climbing is a great hobby for outdoorsy people or people who want to be active without going to a traditional gym.
· “Exploring Colorado.”
Colorado is one of the best places to explore! With beautiful mountains, refreshing lakes, and endless outdoor activities, you can always find something to do. Even in the colder months, Colorado offers fun activities like skiing, winter hiking, and scenic train rides.
· “Going to Hawaii.”
If you’re not a fan of colder weather, escaping to Hawaii for a week-long family trip and celebrating Thanksgiving there may be the answer. Instead of skiing and winter hiking, Hawaii offers other fun activities like surfing, snorkeling, and whale watching.
We hope your Thanksgiving break was filled with rest, joy, and fun memories!
