SGA Weekly Update: Sept. 6

The Student Government Association (SGA) met on Aug. 28 for the first meeting of the fall 2024 semester. The meeting covered executive and committee introductions. 

First, the executive board introduced themselves. 

Junior Delaney Ward, double-majoring in communication and vocational ministry, is the SGA President. Ward “loves the lake, ‘Ice Age’ and Oklahoma State Wrestling.” 

Senior biology pre-med major, Katie McCulluck, is the Vice President. McCullock “loves reading, coffee, trying new restaurants and traveling.” 

Senior accounting/finance major, Nathaniel Whitehead, is the treasurer. Whitehead is “a big fan of Jesus, mac and cheese and Kappa.” 

 Lastly, senior exercise science major, Natalie Smith, is the secretary. Smith “loves golfing and trying new foods.” 

Next, the four SGA committees were presented to the incoming freshman joining the association. These include: 

Campus Spirit, who is in charge of bringing energy and students to sporting events on campus.

Activities, who plans campus events, such as food trucks, petting zoos and the fall festival. 

Spiritual Life, who brings spiritual encouragement to campus and helps run chapel.

And Campus Improvements, who updates and maintains cosmetic features aroundcampus.

After introductions, students were able to submit a document detailing which committee they wanted to be a part of. The new committee members will be announced at the next meeting on Sept. 11.
