How students spent Spring Break 2025

The Talon asked students how they chose to spend their week off of school, here’s what they said:

Junior Annie Davis had an exciting Spring Break filled with lots of surprises.

1.       What was the best part of your Spring break?

“The beginning of Spring break was really good. We got to enjoy some of the good weather, also got to experience some crazy weather with the fires. But then at the end of Spring Break something really awesome happened. I got proposed to and I said yes!”

2.       What was the best thing you ate while on break?

“Funny that you ask, the day after I got proposed to, I woke up from celebrating, and I must have eaten something crazy because I got food poisoning and was deathly ill. Right after the best day of my life, I had one of the worst.”

3.       Were you able to see any family members who you haven’t seen in a while?

“My brother that lives out of state came in with his girlfriend and it was so sweet. As well as my older sister who’s based in North Carolina now, she also came to town to surprise me.”

4.       Did you have a relaxing break or a busy one?

“I feel like it was the perfect storm of both. So the beginning was very much relaxing and then the second half of break was a whirlwind, and I just have never been busier.”

5.       Were you ready to come back to school?

“I was! Saturday I was holding in the secret of being engaged then on Sunday I was sick and I really couldn’t tell a soul because I was bed ridden! So I was pumped for Monday to come around so I could surprise my friends, the volleyball team.”

Sophomore Pamela Batres spent her break with the Edmond Church of Christ sharing God’s message.

1.       What was the highlight of your break?

“I was on a mission trip, and we were helping a lot of different people with a lot of different projects. Really my highlight was being able to translate and break past the communication barrier between my church and the people we were helping.”

2.       Did you get more rest or less rest?

“I’m going to say less rest because I wanted to stay up and hang out with people.”

3.       Did you do or try something new on break?

“I got hypnotized and it actually worked for the first time, then I woke up towards the end. But I really don’t remember the first half of it.”

4.       What professor or faculty member did you miss the most?

“I have to say Professor David Crismon. He’s literally the sassiest person ever. I just really missed that. He’s sassy to me so I’m sassy back to him.”

5.      Did anything unexpected happen?

“When we were in San Antonio, it turns out that two really close family friends of mine were there. So they got to meet Conner (Batres’ boyfriend) and they took us out to dinner. So, it was very sweet.”

Sophomore Landon Parker skied his way through Spring Break during his adventures to New Mexico.

1.       What did you miss most about OC while you were gone?

“It’s definitely the people I love, the people here. Just having their spirit away from me. It’s good to have a break but just having everybody back on campus when you missed all your friends is really nice.”

2.       What should you have done over break?

“I definitely should have done more work, for sure, I did not touch my schoolwork or anything school related.”

3.       What caf meal did you miss the most?

“Buff chick, holy crap I miss buff chick!”

4.       Did you watch any movies or tv shows?

“I did but it’s kind of embarrassing. I watched Beyblade on the way to New Mexico and one the way back I finished the whole series.”

5.       Did anything crazy happen to you or to anyone you were with?

“One of my friends, JP, while we were on the slopes, it was his first day of snowboarding and he don’t know how to work the snowboard at all. So, he went off a cliff and ran into a tree. So, that was pretty crazy.”

For the students at Oklahoma Christian, Spring break was well spent. Although a break is always needed, there’s no denying OC home.
