It is a time-tested saying our grandparents recite—we are born with our name and a handshake, and it is up to us to determine what they are worth. This saying has become the mantra of Oklahoma State House of Representatives hopeful Anthony Moore, a member of Oklahoma Christian University’s 2004 graduating class.
With a long list of professional accomplishments, Moore has recently readjusted his sights for a chair in the Oklahoma State House.
After graduating from Clinton High School in 2000, Moore went on to become a member of Oklahoma Christian’s Alpha Chi National Honor Society, the National Dean’s list and the Chancellor’s list. During his time as an Eagle, he was selected to participate in a prestigious American Studies program based out of Washington, D.C., before graduating summa cum laude with an undergraduate degree in governmental and legal studies.
Moore continued his education at the Oklahoma City University School of Law where he participated in the Phi Alpha Delta program and an international summer study program in Granada, Spain.
After earning his Juris Doctor degree in 2007, Moore worked for over a decade in the oil and gas industry with a primary emphasis in litigation involving lease cancellation, royalty deductions and sales negotiations. Moore also spent time working as an assistant district attorney for two and a half years, giving him experience in medical malpractice defense and civil litigation.
In a recent political statement, Moore expressed his support for pro-life campaigns and the Second Amendment, noting his conservative values stem from his humble upbringing.
“I am a proud, Christian conservative and I continue to believe there’s a place for good, genuine individuals in the State House,” Moore said. “All of the credit for the many blessings in my life goes to God and growing up in a small town with values like family, faith and hard work.”
Moore continued to highlight his intentions to provide opportunity in western Oklahoma while continuing to promote small-town values.
“I want to ensure that my children and [my constituents’ children] continue to have that same opportunity right here in Western Oklahoma,” Moore said. “It is this motivation that led me to make the decision to step up and help build a stronger Western Oklahoma where my kids and yours can grow and raise their families with the values and way of life we hold dear.”
After leaving an established private practice, Moore recently returned to his hometown of Clinton, OK, joining the Christensen Law Group where he manages their western Oklahoma branch.
Moore stated this transition has made him refocus on charitable restoration through acts of service and joining and leading numerous, local boards.
“Since returning, I’ve been dedicated to giving back to Western Oklahoma, serving as Chairman of the Board of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, as a trustee on the Clinton Public School Foundation, as a member of Clinton Lion’s Club, as a deacon of the Clinton Church of Christ, and formerly serving as a board member of the Cordell Christian Home,” Moore said.
Sophomore Ryan Whitely, a western Oklahoma native, said Moore’s involvement and core values are reassuring and promote a sense of morality he was also raised on.
“It feels good knowing someone who shares similar life principles as you is running for state office,” Whitely said. “Whether you agree or disagree with his political stances, at the very least, you know he’s going to be a good guy, a stand-up guy, in times where that isn’t necessarily a common thing.”
