Spring Break plans for the students of OC

In need of some fun Spring Break ideas? The Talon compiled a list of things to fill your week off from school. Students around campus were happy to let us in on some unique ideas they intend to do with their Spring break.

·      “Road trip to Nashville, TN I’ve been wanting to do a food tour of the city.”

Nine hours got nothing on you! Take a drive to Nashville, TN to get a taste of all the good food you miss out on while here at school! While you’re at it, bring some back for the rest of us!

·       “Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, TX”.

As we all know, Dr. Pepper is all the rage now. Wondering why? Well take a drive down to Waco, TX to see for yourself!

·       “Mission trip with Edmond Church of Christ down to McAllen, TX”.

There is always an opportunity to do mission work, why not take advantage of your week off to spread God’s Word with Edmond Church of Christ!

·       “Thunder games are always a fun idea.”

Staying in Oklahoma for Spring Break? Catch a Thunder game! Fortunately, they have two home games over Spring Break, March 19 & 21.

·       “Mission trip/ Ski trip in New Mexico with Memorial Road Church of Christ.”

Another great mission trip idea, head down to New Mexico with Memorial Road Church of Christ. Spread the good news and ski on some slopes.

·       “Just go home.”

Simple, yet always a good option. We all miss our own beds and our mom’s cooking so why not take the trip home, maybe take a buddy with you, show them around “your old stomping grounds”.

·       “Interview for a job/internship.”

We’re almost at the time in our lives when we have to start our careers, why not get a start by interviewing for a job, or multiple.

·       “Binge watch Lord of the Rings.”

Now’s the time to start the series that your friends are always talking about, in this case it may be Lord of the Rings. Kick back, relax, and binge watch some TV.

·       “One day plane trip.”

Are you spontaneous? Well, here’s a spontaneous spring break idea for you. Try a one-day plane trip. Book an early plane ticket to somewhere you’ve never been before, spend the whole day there then catch the last plane ride home!

·       “Learn how to sneeze with your eyes open.”

We’ve all been there when we’re driving and we know a sneeze is coming but are too afraid to close our eyes. What better time to learn how to sneeze, eyes wide open then over spring break! I recommend getting a feather to help you sneeze regularly for your daily practice.

·       “Personally, I’d love to go skydiving.”

Afraid of heights? I sure hope not, and if you are sky diving it is a great way to conquer your fears! Skydiving is a great one-day thriller with a lifelong story to tell.

·       “Make your own meals than document them, I’ve gotten so many ideas from Instagram.”

Has your Instagram feed also been showing you more yummy recipes to try? Why not take the time over Spring break to try a few? Let us know how it goes!

·       “Fix the nail that’s been in your tire.”

Does your car also need some fixing you’ve been putting off for far too long? Without classes, Spring Sing, or club stuff now’s your time to get your car all fixed up.

·       “Visit a National Park.”

What better way to experience God’s creation than being in His creation! Take a road trip to a nearby National Park, take some pictures and wear some bug spray.

·       “Try new places in your hometown.”

Do you ever see tourists in your hometown and think “Why in the world did you travel here”? Try putting yourself in their shoes and explore your city! Maybe there’s a coffee shop, a hiking trail or camping spot you haven’t tried out yet.

·       “Create a vision board.”

Is there a goal you’ve been wanting to reach but are unsure about how to reach it? Try creating a vision board, this helps you to better work out your next steps.

·       “Visit your grandparents.”

We all get caught up and sometimes too busy to remember to check up on the people we love, like our grandparents. Spring break is the perfect time to give them a call or stop by their house to let them know you still love them.

·       “Get CPR certified.”

You never know when you may need to save someone’s life, use this time to get CPR certified, it might just come in handy.

·       “Organize and go through your closet.”

Need some extra money? Try selling some of the clothes you don’t wear/like anymore. Or better, donate them to those in need! Great for mental and spiritual clarity.

·       “Study for your finals and catch up on homework.”

Basic, but truthfully probably the best answer. Now that we’re halfway through the semester we’re all exhausted andour grades can attest. Take some time over break to study class material and catch up on some homework.

We hope your Spring break is filled with rest, laughter, and fond memories to look back on.
