12:00 p.m. – National Weather Service’s Advice on Tonight’s Storm

The National Weather Service (NWS) for Norman, OK tweeted that large hail may be a concern as the storm begins. Later, strong winds could potentially form a tornado or two.

NWS advised being sure to have more than one way to receive tornado alerts that are loud enough to wake you – this does not include outdoor sirens.

“Don’t depend on an outdoor siren for warnings,” NWS included in a tweet. “They are not intended to be loud enough to hear or to wake you up inside a house or apartment.”

Cold air will arrive later, transitioning the rain into possible snow that begins in north Oklahoma and moves south.
