It is an honor to address the Oklahoma Christian student body as the SGA president-elect. Thank you very much for your support and votes throughout the election process. I am deeply appreciative and humbled for the ability to advocate for the student body next year.
Thank you to Seth and Nash. You were extremely upstanding opponents, and it was a pleasure to experience the election process alongside you both.
Thank you to the current SGA executives for their leadership and desire to improve the campus. I am honored to continue your efforts.
And, finally, a shout out to my fellow future executives – I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you more deeply and working together for the betterment of our campus.
I want to assure the student body that the close of the executive elections are just the beginning of my desire to represent the student body and push for increased communication between SGA and the students. My campaign promises are now presidential objectives, which will shape the way in which I encourage and enable our dedicated senators.
I believe it is important the organization of SGA is more deeply integrated into the daily lives of Oklahoma Christian students, resulting in increased unity and accountability. I want SGA to be a place where every student feels welcome and heard.
This can be accomplished through prioritizing accessible and impactful information, promoting opportunities for student organizations and individuals and pursuing greater diversity and representation in the student body; anything that continues to bring this organization together with those we represent.
As we finish this semester and prepare for another academic year at Oklahoma Christian, please be reminded of a few things:
Know your voice is important. Feedback is the two-edged sword of campus improvement. We want and need your ideas to make SGA and the Oklahoma Christian campus better reflect your needs and interests. We are here to serve you.
Be the change you want to see. Find what you are passionate about and brainstorm ways to impact the campus for good. Start a satellite chapel, Bible study, a student organization or consider joining SGA. We can help you with each of these avenues and provide additional resources for your efforts.
Remember we are better together. Pursue the best version of yourself. Embrace what makes you unique and offer grace to others for them to do the same. College is a chance to connect with new people, new ideas and new opportunities.
Again, thank you for this opportunity to represent the Oklahoma Christian student body. Finish these last few weeks with perseverance and remember you make the world a better place. God bless you all.
