The Student Government Association met on Feb. 8 for their weekly senate meeting. The discussion involved budgeting for Spring Sing, planning Spring Sing’s philanthropy project, a social service club funding request and Eagle Eye’s events for the upcoming month.
The meeting began by presenting the student-wide Spring Sing philanthropy project. This year, the philanthropy will be a bed sheet drive for Fostering Sweet Dreams. The discussion revolved around how SGA could help with the project, and the committees considered handing out flyers to local businesses to help increase awareness and donation participation.
Delta Gamma Sigma presented their funding request to host a campus-wide Greek Olympics event. They requested money from SGA to make this event possible. The event will include games, prizes, food and a t-shirt. Further details will follow via email in the next month.
Next, guest speaker from Day Six, Makenna Estes, gave a personal development presentation. Estes provided the students with information on how to build a professional resume and make connections. Estes reiterated the importance of going to Day Six’s Calling & Career Center for advice on resume building and job-related skills.
Finally, Eagle Eye went over upcoming campus events. Taco Tuesday will be on Feb 14 and a Spring Sing coffee camper will be available on Feb. 28 for students needing a pick-me-up. There will be two basketball home games as well, starting on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m. in the gym.
