No plans on a Thursday night? In college? The Chick-fil-A on 33rd Street is hosting an a solution to this problem.
Dedra Porter is the marketing director at Chick-fil-A at Edmond Crossing. She, and Oklahoma Christian University graduate Josh Messick, constructed a new event for college students in the area this semester.
Chick-fil-A College Coop Night begins at 6 p.m, every Thursday night. On the first and third Thursdays, they bring in live music, while the second and fourth Thursdays are trivia night.
Porter said her favorite part of College Coop Night is spending time with the students and getting to love on people.
“The purpose of college night is to further engage with the college students and to continue to develop relationships with the student body of OC and hopefully also UCO,” Porter said.
Messick also influenced the creation of College Coop Night.
“My role with Chick-fil-A is just to be an ambassador to the college students around at UCO and OC,” Messick said. “And I’m learning under Dedra. So, what’s not to like?”
Messick said another purpose of these evenings is to keep the standing relationship with the 33rd Chick-fil-A strong.
“It’s great that OC has opened up their own Chick-fil-A and I’m glad that they have that now,” Messick said. “But the relationship between OC and this Chick-fil-A has been around for so long. It comes back to Dedra. She’s just such a great ambassador to the community. Everyone loves her.”
Thursday, Sept. 29th was luau themed. The entire Chick-fil-A staff wore Hawaiian clothing and leis around their necks. The Chick-fil-A cow also attended the event and dressed up as well.
“I love College Night at Chick-fil-A,” junior Peyton Belt said. “The trivia is really fun, you get to be involved and you get to meet other people.”
Belt said having the Hawaiian night theme made the event more fun.
They also had a drawing to win NEEDTOBREATHE tickets to their upcoming concert.
