The dining options on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University are increasing in number and variety.
Alongside the new Chick-fil-A, is coming a new Alfredo’s Express, which will provide another option for students to choose from when they get hungry.
Alfredo’s Mexican restaurant is located at 33rd and Broadway, and currently accepts Eagle Bucks for Oklahoma Christian students.
Oklahoma Christian United Dining Regional Manager Kurt Hermanson said Alfredo’s Express is set to open at the beginning of next semester.
“As of right now, the new Alfredo’s express line will be opening on the first day of classes in the spring semester, which is January. 9th,” Hermanson said. “But, this all depends on the what stage we are in with the construction process.”
Hermanson also said Oklahoma Christian’s united dining committee made this arrangement with Alfredo’s for multiple different reasons.
“Alfredo’s is a really good partner to Oklahoma Christian, and has been for the past few years,” Hermanson said. “Many of the workers and managers at Alfredo’s either attended or are currently attending Oklahoma Christian.”
Freshman Mikey Mitchell said he is excited about how convenient the new Alfredo’s Express will be.
“I like Alfredo’s food and I am really happy that it is already really close to campus,” Mitchell said. “I have always loved Alfredo’s and now that it is on campus I will be there quite a bit when it opens.”
Junior Mason McAlister said he is looking forward to having another option for food on campus.
“The reason I love the new Alfredo’s on campus is first of all, because it’s close to everything else,” McAlister said. “Also, It gives us another option to choose from other than the cafeteria or Chick-Fil-A.”
Hermanson said Alfredo’s is working on extending their business outside of their catering and dining options.
“Alfredo’s is trying to stamp their brand instead other colleges and universities,” Hermanson said. “So, we are the proverbial guinea pig for this effort.”
Hermanson said he and the Oklahoma Christian united dining staff will have a continuing relationship with the Alfredo’s and construction crews.
“We will be working with the crew, managers and construction crew of this new Alfredo’s Express to work out the kinks, problems and issues that might come up,” Hermanson said. “We are hoping our location will serve as an example so Alfredo’s can extend branches out to other universities and colleges to expand across the state.”
Hermanson said Eagle Bucks will still be offered at the restaurant and in the express line.
“Eagle bucks will be accepted at all participating venues they always have been, including the actual Alfredo’s restaurant on 33rd and Broadway,” Hermanson said.
The Alfredo’s Express is not the only new addition that the Oklahoma Christian campus will see in the near future. Hermanson said many more changes are on the way for dining options on campus.
“The new cafeteria will be opening in the fall of 2018,” Hermanson said. “Also, we are hoping we can bring in the ice cream and milkshakes machines for the new Chick-Fil-A so students can enjoy that as well.”
