Clinton vs. Lewinsky: the final showdown

It has been 16 years since President Bill Clinton’s affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky became public knowledge.

Since President Clinton’s impeachment, Hillary Clinton has made a name for herself in the world of politics as President Obama’s former Secretary of State and potential candidate for the Oval Office in 2016.

Lewinsky, however, has lived in the shadows since the affair, considering she was branded as one of the most hated women in America following the news of the relationship.

A timeline of Lewinsky’s recent public appearances suggest that Lewinsky is making her way back into the limelight.

In May, Lewinsky was featured in Vanity Fair magazine, responding to the affair with Clinton and the news that Hillary Clinton had referred to her as a “narcissistic loony toon.”

Lewinsky joined Twitter on Oct. 20, tweeting “#HereWeGo.” The social media site quickly verified the account as real following the tweet.

Later that day, Lewinsky spoke at the Forbes Under 30 Summit – once again addressing the relationship, Bill Clinton’s impeachment and her life after the affair.

Now Lewinsky is leading her own anti-bullying campaign – inspired by the tragic suicide of Tyler Cleminti who ended his life after a video of him kissing another boy was published online.

I hate to be the source for conspiracy theories or anti-moral allegations, but my question for Monica Lewinsky is: why now? Where have you been since your last public speech in 2001? Bullying is not a new social phenomenon, meaning you’ve had years to go forward with this campaign. Moreover, Cleminti’s death took place in 2010. Has it taken you four years to decide your position on the bullying issue?

Interesting enough, Lewinsky’s new sudden breakthrough into the social spotlight has come just in time to run with Hillary Clinton’s potential presidential campaign.

Nothing will destroy a woman’s composure more than hanging out her marriage’s dirty laundry for a second time, 16 years later. While Lewinsky has played the victim card for the past decade (I mean, Hillary walked away from the scandal with the White House and the ring while Monica got the dress and the beret), Hillary was the true victim of the situation. It was her husband who cheated, her marriage destroyed and her bedroom issues published in a tabloid for everyone to see. Our First Lady became a cover story.

While President Clinton’s former mistress has said she will not stand by the Republican Party if they attempt to use her affair as a weapon against Mrs. Clinton, I refuse to believe that she will turn down any reward or bribe from the GOP to attack Hillary and her possible campaign in its entirety.

Lewinsky’s Twitter profile only means one thing: she has full, uncensored freedom to express any feelings she has about any issue during the 2016 presidential race. Her anti-bullying campaign is a sharp dagger she can use if Hillary Clinton dares to “bully” any other candidate during her presidential run.

Shame on you, Monica Lewinsky. Leave Hillary alone and go back to hiding in your shadows.
