Another semester down, the rest of my life to go

This semester marks my sixth semester at Oklahoma Christian University – and I’m terrified.

Professors are throwing out the words “real world” and “graduation” like they’re nachos (and believe me, if they were nachos I would gladly accept them). Each day it seems as if somehow my GPA, internship applications and the timeless question, “What are you doing when you graduate?” all seem to become more and more apparent and relevant.

As much as I want to crawl back into bed and watch “Gossip Girl” for the rest of my life, it’s time to buckle down and get ready for (hopefully) the last three semesters of my college years – and it’s time for you to do the same.

College is great, but remember why you came here in the first place – for a degree. The chance to learn about the field you specifically chose and the fact the real world is knocking at all of our doors.

All in all, it’s a “new year, new me” and it’s time for a new you. So what if it’s the second week of January and you’ve already broken your new diet or your workout regimen. Here’s a practical resolution: get your stuff together.

If you’re a first year student, let me just throw this out there – college does not last forever. If you had a rough first semester, you have seven more to make up for it. if you’re a senior, you’re out of luck.

No, I’m totally kidding. You have 13 more weeks to make your last semester count.

My advice for all: make the most of this semester. Don’t hold back, make new friends, try something different, get that 4.0, laugh until you cry and watch lots of Netflix.

Take a page from Zac Efron and understand that we are all in this together.
