The Splintered State of the Union

As the nation continues to flounder over the diplomatic and domestic world, American citizens await President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union Address to Congress.

On Tuesday, Feb. 7, President Biden is expected to make his less than grandiose State of the Union Address at the U.S. Capitol, continuing the presidential tradition since Franklin D. Roosevelt. However, unlike Roosevelt, President Biden will be having to list off disastrous executive policies rather than multiple executive successes.

This speech comes only days after the United States embarrassed itself on the world stage after allowing a Chinese spy balloon to cross the entire mainland until finally shooting it down near the coast of South Carolina.

Additionally, as if the Biden administration wishes to embarrass itself further, one of the main themes of the President’s State of the Union Address is, ironically, positive economic outlook.

“‘You will hear [Biden] talk about the progress we have made,’ said Brian Deese, the director of the National Economic Council. ‘This has been an animating part of what the president has wanted to achieve as president,’” according to the Washington Examiner (MSN).

However, the economy has done nothing but become stagnant since the pandemic and President Biden’s economic policies, combined with the out-of-touch 117th Congress, only insulted the American economy and American citizens’ paychecks further.

In fact, “in 2022 alone, U.S. households lost $6.8 trillion in wealth thanks to record-high inflation that isn’t going away, crashing stocks and a teetering housing market”, according to The Federalist

Even though millions of new jobs have been added, the White House conveniently forgot about the returning jobs which have failed to meet economist expectations in each report. To make matters worse, reckless Biden-sponsored government spending from the previous Congress only worsened the inflation in the previous year. But not to worry, the economy is “roaring back,” to quote President Biden’s State of the Union Address from last year.

After wasting oil reserves on a perfectly preventable problem, President Biden and his Energy Department still have been unable to fix the price of gas. Americans continue to see more expensive numbers than the previous administration. Citizens “are still suffering from gas prices well above $3 per gallon,” according to The Federalist.

In a gross disconnection from reality, the Biden administration will do anything but put up an elitist performance designed to lie, slander and defend a corrupt, spineless executive branch.

The crowning jewel to top the national let-down is President Biden will use the same old rhetoric, calling for unity and bipartisanship amongst Washington, D.C., and the country. Although, many recall President Biden’s Independence Hall speech this past September, where the 80-year-old egregiously claimed “‘Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic,’” according to the White House. Sounds pretty unifying, does it not?

From demonizing half  the country, embarrassing the nation and costing Americans trillions, one can only hope  to hear of how the Commander-in-Chief expects to put out the fires his administration created while continuing to stoke.
