Despite scoring early in the first half, the Oklahoma Christian University men’s soccer team fell to a 2-1 comeback from Mid-America Christian University.

Sophomore Braydan Castrop said he was pleased with the team’s overall performance, but the Evangels found ways to capitalize off the Eagles’ mistakes.

“I thought we played well, we just made some small errors that they took advantage of,” Castrop said.

Castrop scored the Eagles’ only goal in the 27th minute from 15 yards out off an assist from Cesar Zepeda. The Evangels answered back with its first goal in the 39th minute.

The score remained tied 1-1 for the rest of the first half and into the second half until the Evangels scored their second goal from a header off a free kick.

A stagnant offense after the break created a problem for Oklahoma Christian, Castrop said.

“We quit moving the ball around in the second half which left us chasing the game,” Castrop said. “Their only advantage was us not moving the ball and our passing wasn’t as good as it should be.”

The Eagles are 2-2 for the season as they set their sights on Northeastern State University at home on Thursday at 2 p.m.
