The Student Government Association met on Aug. 24 for their second meeting of the
semester. Their discussion focused on reiterating responsibilities, furthering communication and detailing events to come.
The meeting emphasized the responsibilities of SGA, which were previously discussed in the meeting last week. This includes encouraging all SGA members to be active in SGA sponsored events and activities within all committees.
Micah Burke, SGA’s Executive President, spoke on the importance of carrying out the organization’s roles.
“I want you all to be proud. You’re in a position to be a part of the change. Be proactive and come to SGA,” Burk said.
Various events and information were discussed at the meeting.
Eagle Eye is sponsoring an event on Sunday, Aug. 28, at the OKC Dodger’s Game. They will be providing discounted Dodger’s tickets for $10. The event provides participants with a game ticket, a baseball hat and a $6 voucher. Gates will open at 4:30PM at the East Gate.
Rush Freshmen will begin the week of Aug. 28-Sept 1. In addition to this week of freshmen club events, the Freshmen Fanfare production will be showing on Sept. 16-17 in Baugh Auditorium.
Campus Spirit is hosting a Volleyball Kickoff Event on Friday, Sept 23.
On Oct. 21, a fall concert will be held in the Forum with Chris Renzema and Jervis Campbell. SGA is providing free tickets and food trucks as well. Tickets will be available on Sept 19.
There will also be a devotional at 4:45PM in the stadium pavilion. Speakers include Clint LaRue, Neil Arter and Ken Jones. Coach Lonny Cobble is throwing out the first pitch and New Reign will be performing the National Anthem.
Burke said this is going to be a big year for SGA.
“I’m really looking forward to carrying out what we set out to do. This is a big group of go-doers,” Burke said.
